CSIA Certified Chimney Sweep, which is a VERY important factor to consider when hiring a chimney sweep. The Chimney Safety Institute of America Certified Chimney Sweep credential is the only nationally recognized certification in the chimney sweeping industry, and should be considered a "must" when hiring a chimney sweep.
F.I.R.E. Certified Fireplace and Chimney Inspector, this is the only certification for the inspecting of fireplaces and chimneys. If you're looking for a qualified chimney inspection, this is the certification to look for. There are only slightly over 200 people in the country that hold this certification. I'm also a F.I.R.E. Certified Technician and a Registered Hearth Advisor.
National Fireplace Institute Certified Master Hearth Professional, which is the achievement of all 3 NFI Certifications: Wood burning Specialist, Gas Specialist, and a Pellet Specialist. NFI Certifications are the "gold standard" of the hearth industry, and a Master Hearth Professional is considered the highest certification in the hearth industry.
IAFCI Certified Professional Inspector To be certified by the International Association of Fireplace and Chimney Inspectors, you need to achieve the F.I.R.E. Certified Inspector Certification, be certified by CSIA or NFI, and maintain extensive continuing education on an annual basis. Very few people have been able to obtain this elite certification.
